Birth preparation

Being well prepared is proven to contribute to better birth experiences. In this down to earth private course you will learn everything you need to know about the process, communication and what to do. We will talk through the whole process, with a light heart, evicence based, and lots of room for your personal questions and sensitivities. Mindfullness and extended postpartum prep modules may be added.

Feeling prepared and confident to give birth

Being pregnant can be wonderful, but comes with many questions and uncertainties, even more so when you are not in your home country. With you due date slowly coming closer, you may wonder:

  • What to expect of a normal, straightforward birth? What are common hickups or problems?
  • Is a birth plan actually usefull? Can I influence birth proces? To what degree?
  • What are the most common interventions?
  • Will there be other relevant choices? What are my rights?
  • How about the pain? How will I handle it? What are the options for natural and medical pain relief?
  • How about embarrassing moments?

In my one-on-one course we will delve into the topics most relevant to you. You will fill in an intake form before the first session. This way you will get the information you need/want, no more and no less, with lots of room for your specific questions. We may tackle specific fears for the birth and work on a positive approach (for a partner too!), so you can look forward to the birth with confidence.

Because your experience matters. It is worth investing your time in an experience that may be a source of pride for many years to come.

Een blog met tips, tricks en resources, en vooral veel verrassende inspiratie voor zwangerschap en kraamtijd.

A pregnancy course built on evidence, mindfullness and personal development

So what’s in the course?

  • Intake form
  • 2 ‘Basics’ session 3 hrs
  • Make your birth plan (format)
  • Follow up session 3 hrs.
  • Handouts,
  • My availability for your questions during pregnancy.
  • A free 30 min. consultation if you need it in the last few weeks
  • One day instead of two sessions is possible.

Because it’s a private course, we may delve a little deeper into your specific situation than in a general courses. I will look for what motivates your wishes and fears, look for why something is important. When you know the why, there may be more possibilities to realize them than you thought.

My style is evidence based, lighthearted and positive, and down to earth. I believe in science – however, science cannot decide what’s best in your situation. I believe very much that you will make the choices that are right for you when given honest and complete information.

I will use mindfullness and visualisations in a very down to earth way.

Extra Modules

Extra module: Extra mindfull pregnancy and birth?

Ever considered doing a mindfullness course? Maybe now is the time. My course may be upgraded to include two personalised mindfullness sessions.

Pregnancy and becoming a mother is a time with great potential for positive personal development, because so much is changing. Often this time brings out both your strengths and weaknesses. Are you someone who may step up and make their voice heard some more? Maybe now is the time. Or have you always been in control, and having a hard time letting go and “trusting the process” (pfff!) as is inevitable in some parts both of birth and of parenting?

If you feel now is the time to face and tackle such matters, I will be happy to support you. As a humanistic counsellor and as a zencoach I am equipped to guide you.

Extra module: Postpartum preparation

Labor and birth are big events, and sometimes the postpartum period is overlooked. Also, we tend to expect you will survive this period, by magic, instinct, and Google.

And it will. But the postpartum period is worth some preparation. It can be wonderful, but a lot is happening at the same time. There is so much to learn in a short period of time, about your baby, (breast/bottle) feeding, sleep… How does all that work? All while you are recoverig and getting used to the new situation. So what choices are there? What options suit you? What are common pitfalls and how to avoid them?

I offer two options: a coaching conversation (1,5 hrs) to make a postpartum compas, or a complete session (±3 hrs) with information and reflection.
