Lastminute postpartum care
Postpartum care is not a luxury. Mothering is no small job, it is important that you should feel well and cared for as a mother and frankly, as a person.
La Balena offers last minute postpartum support. My priorities are to support you to grow in your role as a mom, rest & recover. And next, to navigate all the info and advice out there, find your own style, process your experiences, and coach you to care for your baby.
Sometimes I might take on last minute kraamzorg care. It never hurts to ask. Or I may come in as a postpartum doula. Contact me and we can discuss your situation. If I can’t help you, I’ll be happy to refer you if I can.

Forgot to arrange ‘kraamzorg’ maternity care?
Are you almost due but didn’t get around to arranging help for the postpartum period? And now you have missed the deadlines to apply for the Dutch ‘kraamzorg’? Regular maternity care is generally not available last minute. That goes for my schedule too. But I might help out as a doula.
I will help you concretely with (learning) babyfeeding (bottle or breast) and babysleep, all the baby “stuff”, things like mealplanning and preparing/cooking, some light housework, making a schedule, etc. I will help you with information and resources, and coaching. I might help you relax with a massage and a heartfelt talk about things bothering you. If it fits your lifestyle we may do some mindfullness practices. Whatever you need most.
Still feel overwhelmed a few weeks after birth
After a few weeks, things are not getting better. Indeed, sleep deprivation is starting to take its toll. Maybe you worry about the baby. Or maybe you experience some very complex emotions. Recovery from the birth is slow. Maybe you worry about that too. You wonder if all of this is normal.
Does this sound familiar? How about going over the situation with a postpartum doula? Together we assess what’s working and what’s not, and what can be done. We implement some short term solutions, and work on long term improvement. From overwhelm to a sense of control.
